I was having a discussion earlier with a couple friends on what we thought was the most heinous act ever committed. The holocaust was the general consensus, although various genocides, slavery, and war related acts came up. What do you all think?

The Holocaust was no worse than any other genocide in history. It just gets more attention because the victims were jews.

There have been genocides of equal magnitude in history. The reason the holocaust gets more attention is because it happened in the 20th century, in Europe. this was so atrocious i can't even bring myself to think about it. do yourself a favour and never make the mistake i once made of reading medical reports on how those that survived were affected. if i could remove those things from my mind i would.

the Rape of Nanking was a real low-point in human history.

we could talk numbers, this atrocity versus that, etc., but really there's no point because even if you rated the top 10,000 worst acts perpetrated by man you could rest assured the runners-up would make your skin crawl all the same.
