Out of print records usually sell for more.

For example.

Mindless Self Indugence - Tight (when released, $12)
Mindless Self Indulgence - Tight (now, >$100)

what? how do companies make the money from private sellers?

that makes no sense.
kerble is right.

That's what they want you to think.

ooohh, oohh! I have 8 releases, all of which are out of print!!!

one of them comes out in a month...but since i'm not going to repress it...it's technically "out of print" right?

Mayfair is right. Storing records you can't sell sucks. You might know you're the coolest kid in town putting out records by great bands, but when no one's buying and you look at the thousand$$$ you've spent on these records (for little to no one to enjoy), you start to wonder, why does Dischord keep pressing Jawbox records?

I mean seriously, if the demand was there for another pressing of Pure, Touch and Go would do it.

What stays in print is what sells. What sells are records that are 1) popular, 2) good and 3) cheap (hence all the Czech Republic vinyl you see now).

If you buy vinyl...buy American. Support your LOCAL indie labels and LOCAL indie pressing plants.

Grrrrrrrr......Polvo and Jesus Lizard...

There's three Polvo LPs that you can order from T&G

Dunno why they don't have any Jesus Lizard LPs... maybe they're waiting for enough of a back order to press more. I'm sure it won't be long before they do...

I got "Down" from Insound.com on vinyl. I'm sure there were others on there too.

Rose from Poster Children was telling me about dis- selling out the initial 1000-disc run of one of their albums, then selling a grand total of four of the next 1000, as she was showing me and Choppy the stockpile of unsold 12-Inch Records merch in their basement.

I have a promo cassingle from this album. Wonder if that's worth any more than the paper the sleeve is printed on.
