Very true. My thoughts exactly.

Man, that's really weird. Some months ago I was thinking about the difference between man, and man's environment, and how they relate. And I just realized that any form of device, from simple clothing made of hides on up to computers, would alienate us from our surroundings.

So, I told this girl, "Let's just go out in the woods naked and kiss, as far from any invention of man as possible. And let's be blindfolded, so we can't even see each other and get distracted." She was down with it.

I thought I was going to have this primordial re-awakening of consciousness and just, you know, have this absolutely transcendent experience. It wasn't like that. It was dark and cold, and since we were blindfolded I kept worrying that we'd run into a tree. The kiss was absolutely unextraordinary. And the environment that surrounds us? A bunch of crap, really. No unity. No fireworks. Gaia is a trifling punk.

So this girl actually gets mad at me because I tell her, "That which surrounds us is nothing. There is no magic in your kiss." It wasn't personal. I'm sure there was no magic in my kiss either. But women are like that.

Chavez Hitlered Cortes. And said, "Long live Sitting Bull!"

Chavez is quite a fellow. He's something else. Someone to keep your eye on. An up-and-comer. Quite a fellow.

You can quote me on that.

An up-and-comer for good things or bad things?

I do not know nearly enough about this man.

I'm still skeptical.

Good! The only thing I got from fucking outside were fire-ants, up my buttcrack. People! Nature is against us!

Hart, we should totally go for drinks one day and curse god and our respective destinies.

Oh, no, wait, you know what? Nevermind about that. Still, very well put. "Gaia is a trifling punk". Wow.

the irish famine was no picnic either, and especially cruel was the fact that we were on englands doorstep but they continued to exploit the nation
from memory over a quarter of the population died of starvation/went to america
roughly two million i think out of about eight million?

so relative to the population it was a massive event, though not quite the numbers involved when talking about say the holocaust etc...
