You should really try it to the 58. It's more mod.

Yes, I did the mod on a 57. As the article stated, it was worlds better than a normal 57. The bottom end was present (for once) and it was useable. Unfortunately, a 57 is still a 57, even if it's covered in glitter and is wearing an 80s prom dress.

Who go first?

I just modded an SM57 tonight (exciting Saturday night, eh?).

The bottom end indeed exists now, and I would even consider using the mic for vocals now. I also tried it on a piccolo snare and it went from dull cardboard floppiness to having a decent enough "crack" and a worthwhile attack.

Definitely a worthwhile few minutes to spend.

BTW, watch out when you initially remove the XLR connector at the back of the mic. The screw on mine was very hard to remove and it broke with the pressure which I applied when trying to remove it.

Now I'm left with no option but to superglue the connector back in. Cheap fuckin mic.

I'm doing this mod right now (water's boiling), and I think I know why your screw snapped off.

You're not supposed to remove the screw, just unscrew it all the way and then use plyers to get the connector out.

I'll let you guys know what I think when it's done
