Yeah, Cave Hill is a must visit...very tranquil and beautiful old feel.
Also, I noticed 'evan' that your myspace band is friends with my friend Matt Kalb's band...he and my pal David are in CH and do Audubon Park and I guess Matt does that Hotel Motel thing too. Good peeps those...I miss them dearly. They would have many suggestions as they lived here before moving to NC.
Great Escape is definitely a choice local spot too for the geekier side of things, I love going there when I have any money...the used CDs and vinyl can sometimes yield some good finds too.
If you're out in the Vietnam Kitchen way, somewhat closer, near 3rd and Central (past UofL heading towards VK and right near 4th and Central's Churchill Downs) resides Santa Fe Grill...probably the single best restaurant in the city in my opinion...dirt cheap mexican food...as in, stuff yourself like a pig for $5 or less...it definitely tops my list of places in town though VK is amazing as well a bit further in that direction.

42Yes, "Connor" (if that's your real name), Matt is a fine man. Unfailingly friendly and pleasant. The last Hotel Motel show was a few weeks ago, and I'm sad to see them go. AP is, collectively, one of the funniest bands I've ever met. This has little to do with their music. They're just really funny people.
I see that Louisville has "Downtown Ambassadors." Atlanta had these when I lived there. They wore pith helmets. Yours have escaped this indignity, but the jackets are pretty ugly.
Your skate park is jaw-dropping. I would have spent a lot less time as a fourteen-yr-old running from the campus badge 'n' whistle brigade had one of those been available to me.
Mag Bar's jukebox: right on.
Thanks for the cemetery tip, somniferum. I hope to make it there this afternoon.

43Replying to myself, before midnight, in a town that serves until 4:00AM. This proves I've gotten old.
Mr Brett Ralph: Holy smokes that hot and sour soup is good. Sweet without being cloying, the onions and mushroom still a bit crunchy while the tofu is lighter than air--this is a hot and sour that would convert my wife. She's not a fan. This is because hot and sour soup is generally crap.
The Mock Duck was great. Sadly, part of it resides in the mini-fridge with little hope of being reheated, as I am without a microwave.
The trip there was something of an odyssey.
Cumberland Brews had delicious Pale Ale. I could not bring myself to order cheese fries alone.
I have yet to meet this TARC aficionado, unless you mean the guy who was boasting of beating the shit out of Mexicans to steal their money, as they "can't get bank accounts." He was something else.
Hey Electrical people. Thank you again. I'd have been in sad shape without your guidance.
Rock music tomorrow!

I believe that the TARC aficionado you're looking for can be found here: http://www.kentuckyarts.org/mulligan.htm

45Thank you for all your help last week. Extra-special thanks go to momofliggins, who let me tag along with his (quite good) band out on the town Friday night and even drove me back to my hotel.
