Kitties!!!

My gf's cat squirted out some kitties yesterday. They are squeaky and cute as all get-out. I rescued one of them from a sheet of Bounce fabric softener that would have otherwise been his demise. If he makes it, I'm gonna take him when it's time for them to be split up. He will be my new roommate when I move.

At first we thought there were 3. This morning, with the sunlight, it looked more like 5. Holy crap that's a lot of little monsters gonna be running around in a couple months!

Salut, kitties! Welcome to your lives!! You are cute little mofos!!

Oh, believe me, there's gonna be a ton. There will be so many pictures of these little guys and gals that... well I dunno what, but there's gonna be a ton! I'll probably end up making a whole section on my website chronicling their growth.

Right now, they're in a little pile under a bed, so photo ops are pretty rare. Mom's usually there, obscuring the view. They looked like slimy mice yesterday. Today they're already fluffy and cute as pie.

Also, before anybody jumps on me about "why isn't she fixed?!?!", as people already have in the real world... she's a former housecat, whose owner died and then she became an alley cat for a brief while. Then she decided she wanted to follow my girlfriend into her apartment, and there ya go. So we've been taking care of her for a couple/few months, but never took her to a vet or anything like that. Obviously now there's a whole new dimension to the relationship, and we'll have to commit to taking proper care of her and the littl'uns. But before, it was more like she was somebody else's cat, just crashing on the couch.

Anyway, yeah, there will be a buttload of pics, don't worry!

I had a mother cat and babies in my house - only 3 babies in the litter, and one didn't survive. I made her this nice box with old blankets for mom to nurse in, but starting day 2 she slept with us as usual, dragging the baby kittens with her. You know what it's like to sleep with kittens in your bed essentially the size of hamsters? You sleep really really carefully.

Haha, you're in for a treat! When they first open their eyes, or when they start to walk around, when they start eating solid food.....it's a lot of fun.

I hope the mama cat didn't do like mine and COMPLETLY IGNORE THE BOX and choose your brand new carpet as a good place to squirt them out...
