THURSDAY MAY 4th
BARDENS PRESENTS…

DON CABELLERO:

This new Don Caballero lineup includes Creta Bourzia guitarist and bassist Jeff Ellsworth and Jason Jourver as well as guitarist Gene Doyle. The quartet completed several North American tours and began writing for what will become Don Caballero’s first full-length album in over five years. In December of 2005, the band signed to Relapse Records and began recording said album, World Class Listening Problem, with producer Al Sutton at Sutton’s Rustbelt Studios in Detroit, MI.
With World Class Listening Problem, Don Caballero prove once again that they are innovators of their craft and remain head and shoulders above their peers. The bands powerful, percussive-heavy sonic advance is more dense, more expansive and burns with a new-found urgency.

HELIOGABALE:

Started in 1992.Influence back then : Sonic Youth/Birthday Party/Silverfish.
Yolk, the first album have been recorded within a few days in 1995 (as for every material the band has released) was mixed by Iain Burgess, who also engineered the next mini-album : To Pee in 1996.
Then, still avoiding to wallow in the so-comfortable Verse/Chorus structure, Heliogabale released the 72 minute long The Full Mind Is Alone The Clear recorded in Chicago by Steve Albini during the summer of 1997. Self-produced.
Heliogabale finally signed on Prohibited Records (NLF 3, Don Nino & Berg Sans Nipple) in 1998.
Refusing the idea of repeating themselves, Heliogabale chose to throw away their demo two months before the recording session of their next album engineered by Al Sutton (Don Caballero) in order to re-invent themselves by introducing electronics. So, Mobile Home came out in 1999 and is their most pop opus, featuring Eugene Robinson from Oxbow.
After a break and ten years of indie activism, Heliogabale released in 2005 Diving Rooms where the guitars have obviously kicked off the sampler.
Self-produced and recorded in Paris, it shows in a perfect way the electric, luminous and visionary aspect of the band.

THAT FUCKING TANK:

A two-piece rock band of Leeds. Andy plays odd-strung-and-tuned baritone gtr through a gtr and bass amp using a morley switch pedal. James plays a bass drum, snare drum and cymbals with sticks in his hands. Formed as a sad joke and perpetuated by lies, 'the tank' (or Death Fucking Tank as they are known in Belgium) have played many, many gigs ranging from a bedroom in a Barcelonian pent-house to an outdoor tramp-infested festival in Derby.
