Crap-Not Crap: The Mummies

3
The most endearing thing about the Mummies to me is listening to someone putting and taking off the record stylus on "mummies play their own records."

It is an excellent gag: NOT CRAP.

However...

spending your entire career shitting on CDS, and then post-humously putting out a compilation CD: CRAP.
But I digress. Please continue with the squirrel circuit semantic debate.

CRAP CRAP CRAP!

Well, I've sat down with a LOTTA Mummies records and your thoughts eerily echo my own. Crap. Not CRAP, but yeah, Crap.

CRAP CRAP CRAP!

I've never really thought of them as a schtick band. They just dressed up like mummies and called themselves the mummies.

I love the Mummies.

They are indeed great.

I was at a party last year. The host said "Alex you play music, [dude here] plays in The Mummies."
NO WAY!
I had had a good year of meeting musicians I liked in strange situations, but this was pretty odd, and the guy was kind of arty - he had on one of those Afghanny hats like jazz bass players wear.

I said I really thought "Learn To Unga Bunga" was a great title. He nodded slowly, eyes widening.
"So...we should call a song that...or something?"
"Hmmm...wrong 'Mummies?'"

They are a world music band from Richmond.
Part of me WANTED this artsy dude to be a Mummy. Volvo driving, non-profit employed, potter (or something) by day, MUMMY rocker by night.
