And appeals to ridicule may count as a rebuttal in your world, but in the real world my point still stands.

You didn't state any facts at all.

You stated a couple of silly opinions in an attempt to tie violence, etc. to secularization. There seems to be an unspoken (untyped) implication that this secularization is the cause of these woes. This implication is ridiculous, as it seemingly aims to downplay or disregard entirely the role of religious folks in all manner of bloodshed throughout history, recent and otherwise. Again, disingenuous horseshit.

I'll make another appeal to ridicule here and mock you for extolling magical nonsense while simultaneously talking about what "stands" in the real world. This is very funny to me.

i hate to state the obvious but there were some pretty fuggin bad centuries out there...

There sure were. But I think it's pretty "fuggin" absurd to compare them to the atrocities of the 20th century.

If you're not familiar with the atrocities of the 20th century, you really ought to acquaint yourself with them. It would go along way towards the avoidance of arguing from ignorance like "placeholder" is wont to do.

If after you take a look at the statistics for the atrocities of the 20th century you would like to compare it to the 16th century, I'd say it's a waste of time, but I'm game.

look we may have upped the numbers this last century, no doubt, but only because there were means previously unavailable. you can't just compare numbers without taking a lot into account. it's like saying people became more brutal in the 20th century than any other. "more embaressing". all of humanity is equally embaressing and fucked.

This is too good to pass by as it gives me yet another opportunity to point out the hypocrisy, cowardice, or plain ignorance (I'm not certian which yet) so prevalent on this board which appears to proceed from the top down.

You've made very clear your false belief that there's some kind of magical element to Christianity. If you're sincere in your criticism of religions with magical elements to them, I could help you to get your critical analysis pointed in the right direction. The Kabbalah of rabbinic Judaism is the place that I recommend you begin with. There's a lot of very real magic and very real nonsense, not to mention, very real racial supremacy to be found there.

Oh yes, "ytrehalf." You have really told me a thing or two. Rather than getting further involved with your nonsense, I'll concede. Please enjoy your fantastical, magical religion; it is one out of many, but the fact that others exist does not make yours less asinine. You win the argument!

Again, Chevelle are CRAP!

I wonder who this is directed at, since I haven't "gone on about whether God exists or not."

What I have done is draw attention to the skewed standards extant here. All the "farting around" goes in one direction only.

I don't think I could pay anyone here to offer an analysis of rabbinic Judaism as critical as the critical "analysis" of Christianity which is served up here every day.

I think my point has been well proven.

I can't believe you connected these two bits of information. That's all I have to say.

ah, of course. the secular world is going to destroy us all, along with postmodernism, right?

its worth noting, buddy, that most "tyrannical" leaders you speak of seriously practice some sort of religion, and most likely share your silly theories about decadence emerging from secularism. just look at bush vs. osama et al.
