Hi, I'm looking to build a headphones amp. I've been looking on prodigy but got confused. User A: "Here's a schematic I've drawn.."
User B: "On your amp, the C1 shouldn't be 1000uF.."
I know there are few savvies in here, so, would anyone like to throw a design?
(ss circuits are preferred)

2I don't mean to be a party-pooper, but I personally wouldn't bother doing a DIY headphone amp because they are a bit boring in my opinion.
You can buy a Behringer one (yes, I know they are shit) for much cheaper because DIY is desceptively expensive to do.
I suppose you might be looking for a HiFi one, are you? Maybe then, but for general monitoring I would just use something cheap unless you require high quality standards.
It's more fun making mics, preamps and compressors for DIY! Have you made anything else yet?

3Check at www.headwize.com. Some of the designs are slightly esoteric / absurdly overengineered but there's lots of solid background, schematics and links.

4Just finished my first preamp yesterday. And I tinker with stuff.
Im looking for a headphone amp for tracking and for mixing. But I think that the behringer will do.

5We use a consumer stereo amplifier. Sherwood, to be exact. Wire the outputs straight to a resistor box to load it down, and match the Z of your headphones, and you're good to go! You should be able to find something on THE BAY for 20 bucks or so.
Our headphones sound better than any commercial boxes that we auditioned. Plus they get really loud for those drummers with hearing loss!
