I never really could get behind Jello's Count Chocula vocal style.

The Dead Kennedys were great. After PSD their output almost uniformly sucked, but two great LPs, a very solid EP, and a handful of great singles is more than enough.

Also, they were, along with Black Flag, Minor Threat, etc., instrumental in putting in place the DIY ethic that, more than the music, changed the world of entertainment/art.

This is one of the first "punk" bands that I ever got into. I'll agree with everyone else and vouch for Plastic Surgery Disasters' greatness.

Changed everything for me. After the Dead Kennedys came into my life, it wasn't enough just to be pissed off, it was necessary to act on the causes (not just by forming another band).

I shall go against the grain of this thread and say no, the later stuff is not crap.

Life changing. Brilliant. In fact probably the reason I have a degree in Politics instead of Architecture... which I'm about to fix.

I have realized, after many years, that I cannot stand the sound of Jello Biafra's voice. I can't stand his spoken word, I can't stand the stuff he did with the Melvins, but I still like the Dead Kennedys lots. This is as strong an endorsement as I can give to this band, that they make Jello's voice tolerable.

Both Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables and Plastic Surgery Disasters are tremendous. They're mind-blowing now, can't imagine hearing them back in the day.

There is only one version of "Viva Las Vegas" that I'll ever need to hear.
