So apparently there's this band called Hatebeak
that's some hardcore band with a parrot for a singer. It sucks just as much as Caninus.

i got this 7" free from the label when i mailordered a few longmont potion castle cds a while back. it's about what you'd expect. the cover art is funny, i think. plus, on the back of the sleeve (if i recall correctly), it says something like "THE VOCALS ON THIS ALBUM WERE DONE BY A PARROT". not that funny, but better than caninus, if such a thing can be measured.

the guy gets points with me for wearing a coil shirt.

I know the dude with the parrot on his shoulder. He used to talk about starting a band with a parrot for a singer years ago. He used to play in this band Daybreak. They were grindcore and their songs were shorter than the time it took the singer to announce them.

I'm imagining this has a lot to do with the Longmont Potion Castle dude, who's name I have forgotten right now. He's done some work with Mr. Bungle, released singles detailing the sound of San Francisco Fast Food Restaurants and a fucked up metal band called Faxed Head. I believe he is also behind Neil Hamburger. I like his healthy sense of the absurd. And the Hatebeak song made me smile. I will be purchasing this.

hatebeak also gets extra points for putting their faux-hatebreed logo on a parody of screaming for vengeance's cover art. good stuff.

Longmont Potion Castle is some guy named Stephen. Gregg Turkington has done prank phone call records, but this isn't him. Nor is Hatebeak.

I did a search (reluctantly, I like to test my memory) and realized I was thinking of a CD called Great Phone Calls. That one is Neil Hamburger.
