New Brutalism EP

Has anyone heard the latest recording from New Brutalism? As usual, their records are hard to find b/c they always release them on no name labels, vinyl first...cds come later.

anyway, there are 6 songs. they're fucking great. recorded by bob weston at national. i'd say it's probably bob's best recording to date. i've noticed that he pretty much engineers everything for them.

why don't they tour or why don't i hear more about these guys. someone please send me info of you've got it.

Tar called, they want their guitars back.

Have I already made that joke here?

I probably already have.

I kinda want to hear them again. I saw them about four years ago, and despite thinking that they rocked, I thought that they were biting on the Shellac tip pretty hard. Of course it is pretty hard to play a guitar that sounds like that and not be compared to Shellac.
Police Teeth: we like Void so much, we decided not to sound like them.

they did quote you on their website. I think the shellac comparisons were fine 5 years ago but not much anymore.

regardless, email me if you want the record. god knows i've got plenty of them. if you want to order them online, then go the uber boy of distro, gavin frederick, at Stickfigure Distribution.

Bob recorded the drummer's new band--Fangs. He also played bass on the record. It's a keeper.

There you are Jeremy! I was about to post your email for those folks looking for the records. Nice to see you.

New Brutalism is slow in action due to the fact that the members (I'm the drummer) are scattered. I live in Knoxville, TN & the other dudes are in Baltimore. We'll be playing in the east this September if all goes well.

Bob has recorded all but 8 songs of ours. Steve did 4 (technically 5) on our first record, and Phil Manley (from Trans Am) did four that have yet to be released.

Moodswingrecords.com features an mp3 from said cd e.p. should you want to check it out, Tar Comment. That honestly is amusing. I'm glad that folks still keep Tar on the brain.

Pow! I'm famous! I honestly didn't know about that!

To be fair, when I saw them, I think it was around five years ago. (Actually, scratch that, it was closer to three.) They were on tour with HitSelfDestruct and their second (I think) record had just came out.

Tar were amazing. They def. deserve more props than they get.

I don't have a working turntable right now, but when I do, I'll probably check that record out.

comparing our band to TAR is balsphemy. yeah I know we are absolutely spectacularno rad, but come on, TAR is GOD, and as close to perfect as a band can get. and Tar plays specimin guitars, and I hope they get them back, because they are quite nice (for bolt on necked hollow bodies).
and thanks for the shellac comparison, as they are a band I respect a great deal . and yes in our early days they were quite influential to us, as many other bands indfluenced shellac, and many other bands influenced those bands. originality is dead. more bands should sound like shellac, and tar and yes, even ACDC for christ's sake. strip away all the crap and give us clean, minimal well designed rock. listen to any pop radio station or watch MTV for a spell and you will appriciate the fact that there are many bands that sound like other bands... and that is dandy to me
