Enya? Come on, man. It doesn't sound like Enya.
I'm going to try the Angus Jung method of skipping the whiskey and beer track, but until then, I don't like the record.
The layered, fey vocals!
Yuck!
Yuck, yuck!
Also, the disparity twixt the vocal treatment of Lanegan and Enya-Lady sounds completely ridiculous; it's like Lanegan is singing at the bar of some bizarre, mountain/valley themed hotel with Enya-Lady performing from the depths of a particularly gnarly ravine!

13BAD.
I don't like this record very much.
Lanegan's Hank Williams impression is total rubbish. He was much better on the EP (Time Changes Everything) and Eugene Kelly pulled it off much better on Ms. Campbell's tour, although one had the impression that the band was short of musicians, and the amp buzz and time taken to progress from one song to the next was embarassingly amateurish.
I despise B&S.
Amorino was really great, and not an attempt to cash in on what looked set to be a country music "resurgence".
I'm convinced that when they played the Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris-style Love Hurts, most of the audience thought they were hearing an original piece.

Richard Hawley manages this aesthetic without sounding so goofy, I think.
I believe he just does this shtick better.
This record is quite good though.
Mark Lanegan as a solo artist has always left me wanting more.
The more i was wanting was this record with Isobel Campbell.
I would imagine it was her lyrics that raised it above the mediocrity Mr.
Lanegan was treading in his last couple of albums.
Great Record.
ChoCko is back in town!

15There are about 3 songs I like on this album, the rest are fillery (new word!) types. If anyone fancies getting into Lanegan who hasn't already, I'd recommend starting with Field Songs album, really great (then Bubblegum). However, avoid 'Here comes that weird chill' like the plague..
He's great to watch live too, kind of shuffles and stumbles around like he's totally fucked, but performing really well nonetheless..
