ask the dust wafting up from Collin s anus?

i have purposely avoided learning anything more about this movie since january, when i found out collin farrel was playing bandini. saw a production still in some movie magazine and it was like staring at a picture of someone shitting tape worms out their ass.

while i have an open mind, i think it's safe to say this movie's gonna be a clunker, so no matter how much you like fante, do yourself a favor and don't get your hopes up.

if it's any consolation though, if you liked eternal sunshine... you will almost certainly like gondry's new one, the science of sleep, when it finally drops here. (i got to see it a while back and though it wasn't my cup of tea, i think he did a very good job overall. all the girls in the audience were totally hot for gondry.)

I'm almost willing to see this movie. I was only recently introduced to John Fante (thanks, Lavers!) and it shook me right the way from the up to the down. I've got the Bandini Quartet waiting to be read right now.

Thing is, the book is so great and had an effect so profound that I like to think that no matter the terror the movie may bring my way, I can brush it off in the name of the book's magnificence.

That said, I have turned away from the tube in tearful disgust every time I've seen more than twenty minutes of the film'd 'The Great Gatsby' so I might just be being needlessly optimistic.

It'd be nice to think someone could make a movie out of any of these books that didn't suck, wouldn't it?
