They're not quite minimalist noise metal, but there's another fantastic Japanese band called DMBQ you should check out. Raucous, noisy, heavy neo-pyschedelia with some great grooves.

I've seen DMBQ about four times, and while the spectable of seeing them live is impressive, I just can't get past the fact that seemingly every one of their songs is just one pretty good "Brue Cheer" riff beat into the ground for eight minutes.

Get some Melt Banana 45s and play 'em on 33. Songcraft galore. They won't be slow enough to qualify as doom, but phenomenal nonetheless.

I've heard rumor of a Japanese band called Rhine of Bro, heard them described as fuckin' great, but haven't been able to find anything out about them(?). Might be worth checking out.

I haven't heard them on their own, but I really like the album they've done with Sunn o))). In fact I like it more than any other record Sunn have done.

I liked them way, way before any of you hipsters did!!!!
