Chuckles, I recently went through a similar situation and can definitely agree with a lot of the advice given here. After the bad news was given to me I left town to visit friends for a few days. Upon returning I went straight to my favourite pub, had a few pints, and took a nice girl home. This helped greatly for about a month, shit creeps back into your thoughts if you have reminders laying around. I found keeping physcial by either going to the gym or cycling, etc. really really helps, and in more ways than one.

So keep your chin up, this shit will pass. Like others have said, if she left you like that for someone else without even discussing it with you then she really isn't worth it and I'd consider yourself lucky you weren't in this thing neck deep yet. Guys can be bastards but girls can be downright heartless sometimes.

On a side note, does anyone else find they lose their creativity when you're going through emotional times? I find I'm most productive when I'm really stoked, not angry or depressed.

Yeah, the "highlights" don't make her sound too good, I guess. But really the dumping etc was so out of character which is part of the reason it was so shocking.

Also in her defence, she paid for the holiday to Oslo.

I know, I know- if she was willing to treat anybody with this disregard it was probably for the best but that'll be easier to believe in six months or whatever.

I couldn't even begin to fathom dating someone else within a "couple of months" if my wife died. I love her like crazy - I imagine it would take an extremely long time to get over the loss. And we don't even have a kid!
