Didn't come up in a Search, can it be?
Maybe I should do another poll on Jello's spoken word tours - that's crap, The Dead Kennedys were *not*.[/i]
Band: Dead Kennedys
2Plastic Surgery Disasters - one of the finest punk records EVER.
In God We Trust, Inc. - seminal
Later Stuff - meh.
NOT CRAP
Great entertainers, terrible litigators.

4I like California Uber Alles and some of the earlier stuff; but the later stuff isn't very good.

5Except for East Bay Ray, crap.
Has anyone seen the Dead Kennedy's Live video where Jello is doing these weird "I'm a guy moving boxes around" pantamimes? It's one of the funniest things I saw the night I watched it.

Yet another group I got into when I was 14 that helped to get me out of "bad" music.

My thoughts exactly. This is still my favorite punk record ever. It stands as one of the few punk records I've heard that makes a musical statement that goes well beyond the "punk" musical idiom and volcabulary. It also reinforced and clarified much of how I saw the world when I was exposed to it at 14.
I was delighted to find out years later that Biafra's main musical influences on this record included "The Sacred Idol" by Les Baxter, which is a fantastic record in its own right - kind of a "Daphnis et Chloe", but set in Aztecs vs. Spaniard times instead of Greek antiquity, with a touch of Stravinsky to give it edge.
NOT CRAP, no waffle factor despite the varying quality of their output.
Band: Dead Kennedys
8Not crap for 'Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables' -- never heard 'Plastic Surgery Distasters'
Band: Dead Kennedys
10MTV - get off the air, Holiday in Cambodia...Nazi Punks Fuck Off...all excellent along with many others. Sure, Jello is an asshole but that's part of his charm.
Jock-O-Rama was especially relevant when I was in a football/lacrosse obsessed high school in the late 80s.
Not Crap
