Um, what exactly is a 'slut'?

Surely you guys can't seriously be talking about women who have had various sexual encounters which didn't lead to marriage?

I mean surely you guys are more enlightened than that?

I really don't think there is any problem with sluts. In fact, I don't think I'd have grown into the man I've become without their occasional "support."

The only issue I could see myself having is if a woman I was seeing decided that she needed to go be a slut with somebody other than me, like a buddy of mine.

In that case she'd have to be put down.

well, if she's a 'slut', i don't think you can really lay claim to her now can you? if howvever your girlfriend cheats on you, you can call her a slut. BUT it doesn't mean she is one, it just means you're angry.

So a slut is like a scorpion in that she simply can't help being a slut, and will continue her sluttery no matter what's at stake? I disagree with that. I think given the right situation, someone can decide to change her slut behavior and function in a normal relationship.

i didn't suggest that! that would be like saying being a slut is the mark of a person without a conscience which is obviously bullshit...and i was gently teasing you.

Some people think of a "slut" as just anyone who sleeps around casually and freely, while others save the term "slut" solely as a negative label to indicate someone who is sleeping around casually and freely AND somehow wreaking havoc by hurting others... i.e. if nobody's getting hurt, then the person might not be a "slut" but just a "free person" (as was mentioned earlier).

This makes me want to come up with a few sub-types of "slut":
(please forgive - very, very biased according to personal experience)

"Type A" (aka "free person") - No hang-ups, tells you up-front how they feel, what their expectations are, etc. Generally, does not encourage another person to cheat if said person appears to be in a monogamous commitment. "Type A" sluts can be such a pleasure, as long as you yourself can get your mind around the concept, and be cool with it. If you know one, be thankful, respectful, and you will probably have loads of fun. Will usually keep you in mind for future exploits.

"Type B" (aka "homewrecker") - Resembles "Type A" on the surface, but has no qualms about trying to conquer those who are supposedly unavailable, in fact may work harder to conquer those, just because they are aroused by the naughtiness of it all. "Type B" sluts can suck you in quick (no pun intended, honest!) to their way of thinking and get you to also feel like "it's better, because it's forbidden fruit!" etc. The sex will probably be the hottest, especially if they are really bat-shit crazy. Be prepared for a "Type B" slut to drop you like a bad habit on a whim and never have you again.

"Type C" (aka "dumbslut") - Hasn't really put enough thought into the matter to be either a "Type A" or "Type B" - not crafty enough. "Type C" sluts are just going with the flow, and maybe not firing on all cylinders - you may actually worry that you are taking advantage of someone. Unfortunately, they are usually your best bet for ridiculous 3am drunken "booty calls" - use sparingly. Most likely to "accidentally" help you make a baby.
