I would like to pass some love to Angus Jung and anyone else who has been here a lot longer than a lot of people who currently post. I would like to say thank you for tolerating a large amount of new people on this board, which logically had a lot more possibilities open to it when it began. If that's what you're doing, that is.
This board means a fucking hell of a lot to a hell of a lot of people; if people are bored it's for the most part because they come on here from the boring things that have to be endured if you're into music, art and interesting people but possibly don't have the most interesting way of making a living. My day would be infinitely more boring if I didn't have this place and these people to come and commune with.
When I look over threads from the past I am quite often blown away by the wit and intelligence brought to bear on subjects, and I wish all threads were as awesome as those ones; I also come across boring ones, crap ones that were left abandoned early on, etc.
The forum's just what it is, sometimes it's full of interesting stuff, sometimes there's quiet times. Just like each poster; sometimes we're full of awesomeness, sometimes we're full of boringness. It's testament to what this forum means to people that the best time to be here is when you're not feeling too sure about yourself or anything else and you can come and just listen.
Okay, yadda yadda yadda. Sorry.
This forum is as good as it ever was, as far as I can see, and so may it ever be. I send love to each and every fucking one of you.
But especially you, Angus Jung.
Salut. x

There is almost never anything I want to read on these boards anymore.
Besides the existence of a lot of seriously unfunny grabassers, college students, self-obsessed dudes in their twenties, and other such idiots, I think it might have to do with this "bored" thing.
People are bored, so they write things that are boring.
There's never any reason to be bored. If you're bored, that's on you.
But I should "pass along some love," so.....Hosoi.
nice to see you're still Above It All, mr. holier-than-thou fancy pants.
personally, i think there are legitimate reasons to be bored sometimes. being at work is one of them. not everyone has a cool job at a recording studio, art gallery, or record store. some people are mired in the mundane for hours on end nearly everyday, and posting on a silly message board is simply a way of passing time. other people (like me) are busy sorting out their mixed-up lives and posting on here provides them some sort of constancy while they carry out various dull but necessary tasks. maybe that's pathetic to you in all your thirty-something know-it-all wisdom, but if it helps someone else hold down a job or get through the day, who fuckin' cares?

263excellent post Chapter Two.
I love all the Angus Jung love! I remember when he was "mysterious"!
"Who's this guy in Oakland? He knows what time it is!"
Have I mentioned recently how glad I am that kerble turned me onto "Achewood"? Well, I am. Very glad indeed. www.achewood.com

AMEN - I might have mentioned once before that my employer got bought up by its longtime competitor, and in this exact little moment my team doesn't have a single thing to be working on. My post-count has probably doubled in these past two weeks (eep.). I only hope that sometimes they are as worthwhile and/or humorous as the "fix" I get from you all when I come here to read. This is a great "place" for learning & a great "place" for laughing. Two things of which you can never have too much.
Serious love to you all. I don't think I know anyone well enough to give super-specific shout-outs (ok, maybe an extra softspot for the Scrabble players who put up with my sorry ass a while back) but as a whole, this is a happenin' joint. It would be pretty cool to hopefully see some of you in person at the T&G 25th shows.
...and of course MAD THANKS to those who have created and continue to maintain it!

Forgive me if I'm being a little neurotic and insecure. But as a relative newcomer I have to wonder just what this means. What does it mean? Angus' toleration, or anyone's, to a decreasing quality in posts?

First of all Gulliver, I'd like to congratulate you on acheiving Complete Piece of Shit status. This is not to be taken lightly. I am referring in my post to what may be deemed the Golden Age of EA, which is when the concept of Kerbling would find little ground, as nothing had thus far been spoken of and all things were new and open to discussion. Long before yours and my time.
"I prefer their early stuff".
hmm.

what can i say?! t&g has been the most important thing for me to dicover during my teens and i began to come across other people interested in labels and yes, even studios. ea is a special thing and i'm just another nerd who wants to be a tiny, shitty, 'boring' part of something i admire. even if it is on a forum of music/ and/or otherwise snobs/smartasses who need to intellectualize music and so on and so forth. do you wish to impose an age limit or vet new members?
perhaps you would like to initiate a separate board just for members who have been here since 2003 up until..ooh, around the time i joined up?!
if i'm bored, it's because i have the most boring job a person could possibly have and suffice to say, ea brightens my day considerably.
i'd still like to listen to can over some beers in the bay however. then i can punch you in the mouth because i've just finished my bar shit (second job of the day) and i've drunk the drinks people bought me for being nice and i feel slightly inebriated and affronted.
cordially,
lisa.c. lavery
