I met him a number of years back when he gave a talk at my old college in Oshkosh (this was right around the time of "The Big One"). I got to go hang out at the Radio-TV-Film Department reception for him, and he was incredibly nice, polite, and fun to talk to. Additionally, when the department heads were explaining to him the prize money scale for the department's annual film competition, he decided to match the prize money for each prize (first, second, etc.) out of his own pocket.

He devotes a healthy chunk of his income to non-profit grants for struggling documentarians...or at least, that's what he said. So sue me for not being so skeptical do go and do research on it.

I saw Michael Moore here a few years ago at the McKale Center, right before the election. There was a chorus of Bushies in the nosebleed section, booing him for the first 45 mins or so. Boo, boo, boo, that's all Bush supporters know to do. At least grow some balls and throw a pie.

There are MUCH bigger fish to fry than Michael Moore.

He's a good starting point for young people to become interested in politics. His movies will only make you think more, and carry on the discussion outside of the theatre. Thats not crap. Taking him seriously as a source after being turned on to more serious political analysts, thats crap. At least he might get you there.

He is not working within the propaganda model. He is working against it. He may be clumsy at times, but his heart is in the right place. I welcome a solid argument that challenges his sincerity and integrity.
