Hmm, next time I suggest Brazil start with eleven players.

BBC Radio Five nearly disappointed me after the game by rolling back to that old 'listen to the crazy Brazilian radio commentator shout GOOOOALLLLL!' standby, but then the crazy Brazilian radio commentator made everything great by having a guitar solo play under him as he shouted 'GOOOOALLLLL!'

Not crap!

But I still view the Italian team and Italian football culture as a perfect expression of the crypto-fascistic, xenophobic, self-gratified, ie. the less flattering traits of Italian contemporary society.

By the way I entertain similar thoughts about a team like Real Madrid. I hate them.

Italian football culture has been hijacked (and politicized) by pieces of crap like Silvio Berlusconi outside the field, and in the field by slutboys like Francesco Totti. They are worthy of vitriol.

By the way, ciao Italia!

Ok, that's better. You're right, I agree with your point about fascisti culture and Calcio Italia. But, also remember that Italy is a completely polarised nation. Aside for Silvo's clowning many Italians are very leftwing, progressive and anti-fascist. My wife finds it hard to support the Azzurri, but she is Italian as much as those coglioni in Lazio and we have just as much right to support the Azzurri as a Englishman has supporting England, despite the BNP and a Dutchman has to support the Netherlands.

Italia forzia, mai forzia Italia!

(Italy Go! Never Forzia Italia!)

Oh, and Brasil were caca.
