Has anyone heard The Jaz?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaz-O

I caught an early video on some local cable hip-hop show, and was blown away by Jaz's delivery.

As the video progressed, I was introduced to an extremely young Jay-Z, who's lyrical stylings and flow delivery blew me away.

I've basically re-evaluated Jay-Z after ignoring him for years, but nothing seems to match what I originally saw.

And the Jaz records seem to be rare/priced as a rarity.

Just curious.

Prior to that, the Coup's Party Music was the last full album to really grab me by the ears. Would take any more recommendations of similar.

Jay-Z: Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, The Black Album. All super awesome.

Blackalicious: The Craft....I know that everybody has mentioned there other records, but I think this one is amazing.

My favorite record of 2006 so far=Ghostface Killah: Fishscale, which gets my vote for best post Wu-Tang album (even better than Liquid Swords ...Cuban Linx, which you should get also)

* anything by 2pac
* anything by the wu-tang clan, as well as the early solo projects by their members, as well as the first 2 gravediggaz albums, and the new semi-wu "think differently" compilation is one of the better releases of the past year.... and the gza/muggs album of last year isnt half bad.... rza btw is easily my favorite rap producer, he singlehandedly motivated me to buy much of the same gear he has used (a novation bass station and eps-16+ sampler and a turntable (to sample from, instead of sampling from cds or mp3s)), and my "productions" have changed very much (for the better) ever since
* dmx - its dark and hell is hot, plus that track "slippin"
* cannibal ox - cold vein
* blockhead - music by cavelight, and downtown science (best hip-hop instrumental albums ever, better than dj shadow and rjd2 combined)
* aesop rock - float, labor days
* anything by bone thugs, plus any solo stuff by bizzy bone, who is easily the best rapper around since 2pac died (in the past 12 months he has released 3 or so albums, all are amazing)
* the new cage album is ok, i used to not like him but he got on-point as of late, and finally got some good production
* old busta rhymes, but his new album gets a BOO from me
* NAS - ILLMATIC, and the "it was written" album wasnt bad although everyone hated on it.... his breath control has gone downhill over the past 5 or so years tho
* mobb deep - the infamous, hell on earth, but nothing they did since then
* dr dre - 2001, the chronic
* ice cube - lethal injection, death certificate, amerikkkaz most wanted
* anything by kurupt, some of the dogg pound stuff too... listen to kurupts track "i didnt change" (his diss on daz) which is easily the only good "diss" track ever to be released... not at all in the cheesy big-l/jay-z style of dissing, its some serious and heartfelt stuff
* anything redman did before that terrible "malpractice" album
* 2 snoop albums (and none of his others): doggystyle and last meal
* dj krush - jaku, kakusei, and he has some other good ones
* cypress hill - the self-titled album, black sunday, temples of boom, and IV..... really great live performers, especially if youre a ganja smoker

Sorry, obviously I misspelled something. Here, I'll correct it:

Mr. Chimp wrote:... I was introduced to an extremely young Jay-Z, whose obvious natural grace of articulation (exacted over a surprisingly deft command of meter subdivision) and whose spitfire delivery never overwhelmed nor interfered in a disharmonious manner with the rhythm bed (and at a clip heretofore not illustrated to these ears) blew me away...

Not to nitpick here, but hip-hop and rap are not interchangeable terms. Rap refers to an MC's vocal delivery, while hip-hop refers to MCs, DJs, grafitti, a style of clothing, etc. Therefore saying Blockhead is the greatest instrumental rap album is a complete misnomer as rap by definition is not instrumental. This would be similar to saying KRS-ONE is the best rapper in turntablism.
