I just spent the past two hours on the internet while sitting at Gate 90 of San Fan Int'l Airport. I  EDVO wireless technology! You rock, EVDO! Not like DEVO, but still, rock!

This was my first time ever visiting California. I will be pushing back from the gate, on my way back to Chicago in about a half hour. I cannot wait. This weird little suburb of SF (called Sunnyvale) is nothing like what I expected. It is like a suburb of Chicago. I know, only here for a day, but still, it was like spending the last 24 hours in Schaumburg, no joke. I wish I coulda spent time in San Fran proper. I'm sure it's a million times cooler than Sunnyvale.

Sweet home Chicago, here I come!

I'm so relieved! Now I'm going to the pub for a drink, and then I'm going to go and watch X-men 3.

Hooray!

Superb!

Last week, I kept hearing Evergreen on WXYC, the radio station where I am a DJ. I heard a novice DJ playing "Whip Cream Bottle" at 3:30am. That afternoon, someone played "Solar Song." Others followed. I thought it was great that people were somehow getting into Evergreen all of a sudden. Before that, I'd never heard anyone else play them.

A few weeks ago, the music director at WXYC gave me the recent Wolfmother album and the Home and Garden reissue to review. When I was done, I brought them back to the radio station and slid them under his office door, as one is supposed to do with reviewed CDs. They went into heavy rotation (i.e. they were getting played a lot) Monday of last week.

I came in for my Thursday evening show last week and was considering playing Wolfmother when it came up in rotation. I opened the case and saw my copy of Evergreen there. The Wolfmother disc was still in my car stereo. Considering how well-known Wolfmother is, I'm surprised that no one sent out something to our listserv expressing confusion or saying outright that the wrong disc was in the case. They just thought Evergreen was Wolfmother.

I woke up today to find in the kitchen a cardboard box and a note from the housemate who tends the plants in the backyard asking me if i'd mind boxing up the dead pidgeon and watering the plants. I put some coffee on then ventured outside. I had to look all over for it, but there it was, tucked around the corner. Quite a big one, with a shiny green tint to its breast. I wrapped two carrier bags around my hand and picked the bird up, wrapping the plastic around it as I did so and placing it in the cardboard box which had previously contained a mushroom growing kit. Two flies flew out from the bird. I then placed the box inside a black bin liner which I tied and put in the corner of the yard. On Friday morning I'll put it out in the alley and the refuse collectors will take it away.

I then watered the tomato plants with the full watering can that my housemate had left on the ground upon immediately encountering a large dead bird before sealing herself safely from it in the kitchen and leaving the house by the front door.

The bird was light.

i just finished a two week renovation of my studio, mainly relocating and building the control room. i have windows and a line of sight to the people i am working with for the first time in my life as a recording engineer. the room turned out great and i have no more $$$!

i sent off my 002 rack to be modified at the beginning of this process expecting it to be back last week. a phone call monday confirms my 002 rack never made it to its location is chi town, it has been hanging out in a warehouse for about 2 weeks, thanks UPS! another phone call gets the ball rolling on the rack. a frantic email explaining the pickle i am in to the people modding it, cause thursday night i am rolling for the next couple months strait, come hell or highwater. right then, it is wednesday morning, last night my band broke up. then while setting up my monitoring/mix position i discovered my console control/studio/and master outputs were not summing equally, the frequency response is way fucking wacked, pink noise and a rta confirmed this.

so, today, i am call up every friend to get a loaner rack, go to the bank and hand them my balls to be able to buy a new board, brush my teeth 10 times cause i have been awake for too long and i have that taste in my mouth, finish the trim, fix the clutch cable of my bike, and keep my fingers crossed that the guys in chi town come through...right and the mci multi track is acting like a senile rat bastard... i have a two week window before any mixing takes place, beneath the wheel...fucking a.
