it may be difficult for those who normally have alex ferguson to look after them to understand but if you stamp on someone's groin off the ball and then scream dissent at the official who already has reason to send you off, you are going for an early bath. oh and who was the conflict with? another manchester united player perchance? oh yes - that's right!

exactly as i predicted at the beginning of this campaign -
* england went out at the quarter finals.
* walcott was not played.
* aaron lennon is superb but under-used throughout.
* having to accomodate three midfield players in the mould of beckham, gerrard and lampard would hamstring us.
*we lacked an auxillary striker like defoe.

i made comments at half time and extra time, highlighting how poor lampard was and the absoulte quality of hargreaves. you'll also notice how lampard missed his penalty and hargreaves was england's only scorer. i'm shocked how great owen hargreaves was in this game. i never rated him in the slightest until today. it's also pretty grim that peerless aaron lennon was brought off for carragher, who also missed a penalty.

still, kudos to ashley cole, john terry and paul robinson for their superhuman efforts throughout today. these three players should finish their careers in england shirts, as should joe cole, aaron lennon and owen hargreaves. i hope to god mclaren agrees.

also, today's referee gets a firm ten out of ten for the first time in this world cup. i agreed with every decision he made and he didn't fall for a single dive or slow the game with unnecessary bookings. absolute world class refereeing and i hope he is picked for the final.

i'd like to add my disgust for the english media. they had erikkson (statistically still the most successful english manager of all time) fired before a world cup and then prevented us from gaining one of the finest managers in the world in the shape of today's tormentor scolari. it is disgusting the sway the tabloid newspapers have with regards to sport and politics in this country. regardless of the reports you will hear tomorrow, these are the real culprits behind today's disaster.
