yes, some of his movies are godawful, irredeemable crap. i guess it could be argued that even his "good" movies are pretty terrible, but i really like some of his stuff. i'm going with NOT CRAP for zombie, the beyond, city of the living dead, new york ripper, four of the apocalypse, and house by the cemetery. there is a moderate waffle factor for crap like new gladiators, house of clocks, and pretty much anything else of his i've seen that i didn't mention before. there is some weird indescribable tension (or something) in his "best" movies that i've not seen elsewhere (edit: i think it may have something to do with the way he'll often disregard narrative or logic in favor of elaborate- and unintentionally funny- setpieces), and a lot of his stuff is made exponentially better by shoddy gore scenes and dollar-store special effects. he is by no means my favorite director, but many of his movies are damned entertaining.
salut, fulci! requiescat en pace!

2I just can't help it. Of the third of his movies I've seen, I've enjoyed them all. Scripts, acting and dubbing is usually for shit. Pretty clunky films, but occasionally impressive effects, and always dark and grim. Zombie, City of the Dead, The Beyond, House by the Cemetery, Don't Torture a Duckling, A woman with Lizard Skin, Cat In the Brain and even the impressively horrible Zombie 3 are just fine with me. Crappy for the most part, but NOT CRAP on an extremely personal level.
Director: Lucio Fulci
3Anyone who thinks that having a zombie fighting a shark in their movie has a mind far superior to mine.
Better yet, eat the placenta!!!
