I've been watching football since 1987, and that's the best performance I have ever seen.

you started watching one year too late. 1986 was the best world cup. maradona the greatest player of the modern era, dragged a generally shit argentina side to glory virtually single handed

I was 2 years old for most of 1986.

right, but you forgot Pumpido (great goalkeeper) "Cabezon" Rugeri, Olarticochea, "Tata" Brown, Burruchaga (scored the 2nd goal against GER) and Valdano (3rd goal to GER)

oh yeah, don't forget "Checho" Batista, legendary number 5 ! and of course great Manager Carlos Bilardo !

Pumpido. That is a great name.

Reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons when there's a football match coming to Springfield.

Grosso's goal was excellent; Pirlo's presence of mind to set up a first time shot on Grosso's favoured left foot and the latter player's execution of a curler round Lehmann's hand just inside the far post were the kind of skills which deserve to win a tight World Cup semi-final.

Cannavaro was excellent in defence, arguably the player of the tournament.

Credit to Germany too.
