For me, I've come to the conclusion that Monroe Mustang's "Plain Sweeping Themes for the Unprepared" is the one record I'd save in a fire. It's not spectacular by any means, but it has more home-crafted heart than anything I've ever heard. "Why is no one writing all this down?" Indeed.
