we USED to 'practice' until we had a talented friend come play with us, so NOW we 'rehearse'.
can we apply this conversation to cars and automobiles?

22Who the fuck says automobile?
Besides Grandpa from Sixteen Candles, that is.

You like Caddy Shack, too?
Capital!
I didn't know you were such a devoted fan of cinema.
Good show!

24I'm English but "Movie" easily trips off my tongue also the word "cops" (I've had the piss taken out of me for this, perhaps rightly). I use "film" too.
I'm sorry but I dislike the word "dude" uttered by anyone from the UK. I once heard an English guy use the term "parking lot" with a straight face, WTF?.
I accept that I'm totally inconsistent on this one.

25"Movie" and "film" are synonyms; they refer to the same thing.

26Wow! I was thinking of starting this thread not so long ago because I really hate the word "film". Maybe it's because it seems like it's usually used by someone talking about some movie I've never seen and probably wouldn't understand anyways because I'm simple.
Movie!

To me:
rock music = practice
theater = rehearsal
I like when my rock friends refer to my theater friends' rehearsals as "practices", and my theater friends refer to my rock friends' practices as "rehearsals".

Why do you make it so scary to post here.

Heh. In parking lots, my brother-in-law used to jokingly yell out the window, in his best backwoods North Carolina accent, "Sumbuddy fine me a parkin' hole!" when I was much younger. Never failed to crack me up.
I believe the English refer to them as car parks. As if, after you leave your car, it cavorts with all the other cars on waterslides and carousels.
