yeah i saw them on Thursday night in D.C. and thought they should just be called the Damon Che Experience.

The opener Haram was much better IMO

yeah i know the whole shit and i saw them when they were actually don caballero. they were good last night though. they did better than okay with the older songs. way better than they were at CMJ a few years ago.

let me tell you who wasn't good. every other band that played. awful. awful. awful.

I was pretty disappointed with the new don cab lineup. "World Listening" wasn't terrible, but nothing close to "american don." I've started listening to Ian William's new project "battles," but haven't made up my mind. Some of it's pretty catchy.

opened for the Don Cab cover band a couple of years ago in SLC. I was impressed. I thought the band, as a whole, performed the older material very well and enjoyed myself through their set. Damon Che was, without a doubt, very impressive.

yeah, they played "haven't lived afro pop" (a song i wasn't expecting to hear) at the end and pretty much nailed it. i was happy. but man, i can't stop thinking about how shitty every other band was. complete shit.

don cab opened up for my band the other day (seriously... except it was cause they wanted to play earlier rather than later and not cause we're so cool that don cab opens up for us... hehe). damon che made a few funny comments including "i feel really fucking sorry for the band that plays after us". afterwards i asked him how the hell he plays his snare drum like that (really really low) and he grabbed me by the neck and said it was cause he had big gorilla arms. he's got a very interesting sense of humor... haha. i can't say i'm the biggest don cab fan... the music always struck me as a little bit sterile. but of course... watching damon play drums is always a good time.
