Howdy all,

Just a couple of questions, about compressors, as i haven't a clue.
I've noticed some have 2 channels, some have 4 - what difference does that make exactly?

If using them live, how do you use it on clean sounds, and then not use it when on more heavier, distorted sounds - or is it just a case of leaving it on, as it wont make much difference etc?

first it's spelled compressOR not compressER.

Multi channel compressors are for having pultiple things compressed differently. if you had a mono compressor (1 channel) everything ran through it would ahve the same compression.

the only way i know of to use a compressor on a clean guitar and then not on the distorted guitar would be to have a stompbox compressor. But for the most part the reason anyone would use a compressor live is so that the distorted sound and the clean sound are the same volume.

Experiement withy it and draw your own conclusions. sometimes the reasons people do things are not because its the best option.
