how about now, nearly a year later?

i am curious about this process because i will get there one day. i've been smoking regularly for about 3-4 years (i'm 19). right now i smoke a pack in about two days, maybe three. i had a phase at the beginning of college where, for about two or three weeks, i was smoking a pack a day. that just got to be too overwhelming. i don't want a cigarette that often.

does anyone else smoke like this? (quantity i mean) or do most people wind up being pack-a-day smokers? i'm hoping that because i smoke less than that, it will be easier to quit when the time comes. quite simply, i still enjoy smoking and i like having it in my life. it's good. in fact. i am going to smoke right now. a little bit of the ganja, a little bit of the tabbacy.

I'd recommend thinking about stopping sometime and actually doing it. I'm 21 and stopped earlier this year after smoking on and off since I was 12.

As has already been mentioned, physical addiction is said to last around 3 days. After that, you just "think" you need to smoke. You don't.

I used to have trouble not having a smoke when drinking. Not because I was drunk - because I always felt I really wanted a cigarette when I was bloated with drink. The same goes for refusing a joint (if you smoke that too) - its difficult to avoid.

Anyway, after about a week I stop thinking about cigarettes all the time. You need to remember that you are not physically addicted. Its just a stupid habit that you forget with time. As ridiculous as it may sound, I had similar difficulty stopping biting my nails - the habit dies with little time though.

yup, been smoking about ten to fifteen a day since making that post. i like smoking; i've no intention of quitting again for some time. but, in agreement with rodabod, i smoke a lot more than that when drinking - they just seem to co-incide quite nicely.

A friend of mine (yes, I do have some) - when I was struggling with the same thing - suggested that I try cigarette tea. You fill a teapot/cup with hot water and add the cigarette to it, let it sit for a while and then knock back with a biscuit or two. Whenever you get the urge for a fag, drink the tea. Combine this behaviour with watching gay porn, and you're well on your way to being an ideal citizen.
Mind you, these days, when I sit down with a cup of Earl Gray, it's not biscuits I want with it - it's cucumber manwiches.

get a mixing bowl the size of Leon. ANd then get Leon. He's a rapscallion, to the last, but he can be persuaded with a revolver.

Anyway, load his portly ass into the bowl and scream at his tits. Ohh sure, he'll holler back some, despite not being a holler back girl. Nevertheless, you keep yelling until some blood comes out (of Leon, not you) and your as good as cured.

All you have to do then is not have the cigarettes, and breath underwater.

Or do what my friend did, join the Bicycle Moto-Cross!
