Thank you, thank you. I will try to try some of these things: the All Asia Restaurant, the Miracle of Science Bar, Helmand, Cafe Jaffa, a rock show. Yes, some these things will be tried! I will even try them via the T.
Again, thank you.

12Blue Ribbon Barbeque. One of my favorite pulled-pork sandwiches in the freakin' world. Arlington or Newton.

Seconded with big blue bells on top. Don't go to Red Bones though - nowhere near as good a BBQ, no matter what the taxi driver says.

15whatever you do, don't run into the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. they hate your kind:
sorry
they came to Boston on their vacation
they came, they saw, they annoyed me
they saw it all, what! Fanueil Hall! It's best if they just avoid me
rented a car to see the sights they found the Hub confusing
looked for the Swan Boats In Mattapan well, I find that real amusing
I was here before they came. I'll be here long after
don't want to share, but it seems clear that I'm gonna have to
they came to Boston for an education live in the dorms, join a frat
jam my bars and subway cars now, what the fuck is that?
spend year one having fun and causing aggravation
spending daddy's cash on a toga bash when the hell's graduation?
I was here before they came I'll be here long after
don't want to swear, but it seems clear that I'm gonna have to aww fuck

16Yeah, everybody's nuts about Redbones and always has been. I lived right down the street before I moved to Chicago and have never liked it. I even was dragged in there with Burma earlier this year....still don't like it.

Going to Boston
17Remember to do as much walking as you can, Boston is one of the best walking cities around. Follow the Esplanade along the Charles River, hang out in the Public Garden, pray for some sunshine. I will second Mary Chung in Central Square for some excellent Chinese food. As for North End restaurants, I really liked Lucca though it's kind of pricey. My roomate swears by the black pasta at Catch of the Day (if you do that try to go off-hours 'cause it's tiny with about 12 seats). Also, Caffe Vittoria is the best approximation of a European cafe in the city and they just opened the Gelateria which I fucking love (all those places are on Hanover St.). If you're into beer at all, take the Green Line C Train to Washington Square in Brookline and go to the Publick House. Good food, nice, reasonably quiet room, and great bottle/draught selections. Go to Harvard Square, you will probably find something to amuse you. Someone mentioned Harvard St. in Allston, I basically live there and it's a shithole by tourism standards of any kind.

18I lived in the North End. Fuck Hanover Street. Salem Street is where it's at, baby!!

I rented this apartment in the fall of 1995. When we showed up to move in the people living there hadn't even packed up, much less moved out. So I was pissed.
Anyway, this guy who lived there was going up to all of us and giving stuff away like clothes, a chair, etc, and he offered me a nice silkscreened Bosstones poster and I said,
"No thanks."
"Oh, you don't like the Bosstones so much?" he asked.
"No," I replied. "I think they suck and I think Ska music sucks."
The guy was Joe Siroit, the drummer for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I had no idea it was him until my roommate told me later.
I did take him up on his offer of his Lazy Boy.
