Emo has:
Sunny Day Real Estate (I enjoy)
Weezer (I enjoy)
Probably most of the neo-80's bands (which suck except for Interpol)
Bright Eyes (complete shit)
Pretty shitty literature (mostly hipster garbage)
Myspace (a wasteland)
Screamo (terrible)
new emo (terrible)
Magnetic fields (not crap!)
Attractive women

Goth has:
Siouxsie and the Banshees (not crap!)
Joy Division (not crap!)
The Smiths (not crap!)
Depeche Mode (I enjoy)
Industrial (pretty much crap)
Hot Topic (not really goth, but still crap)
Great literature (Poe, Lovecraft, Hawthorne!)
David Bowie (goth icon)
Attractive women

I don't know, being mildly emo is probably more socially acceptable, but goth culture (when done right) seems to have more perks.
