Lesbians only count as half.
At least that's what it says in the handbook.

The dumb runs deep.

So speaking as probably the only official lesbian. The lesbian objectification/"jokes" are boring, lazy and unfunny.

Personally, they don't make me feel great, they actually piss me off....I know no one gives a shit...and I don't expect you to......but I'm telling you anyway. I stick to reading the tech room. I don't post much. Mostly because quite a few of you remind me of my students when I taught at Full Sail. Juvenile, arrogant, woman hating boys.

I'm not saying all you men suck. So don't twist what I say. There are some great guys here who are funny, smart and interesting. I just wish the funny, smart interesting ones would step up and say...."hey moron! shut the fuck up and contribute something worth talking about. Objectifying women, all women including lesbians is wrong."

but no one else besides Rachael really is.
So I'll step up and say,

"hey moron! shut the fuck up and contribute something worth talking about. Objectifying women, all women including lesbians is wrong."

It seems that it's easier to justify shitty behaviour than say, oh maybe Rachael has a point. Maybe the quality and intelligence of recent posts have been lacking. It's easier to say, "I can say and do whatever I want and have no consequence". That's just not true, even in the trolly land of message boards.

And clearly when someone does apply a consequence.....(our friend Rachael)...you all freak the fuck out and point fingers and justify out your ass that you can do what you want bla bla bla.

If you really, truly appreciate and love women, you wouldn't talk about them the way you do.

Rachael certainly has a good point, and that point was made and accepted. I'd have to say that I don't mindlessly appreciate and love women any more than I mindlessly appreciate and love men. Beyond an initial level of respect for strangers, appreciation and love need to be earned.

re: official lesbian post --

bumble has backed up rachael, i've backed up rachael, gnangle has too. yeah, i haven't posted on this thread since like 6 yesterday cause i had other stuff to do.

but yes, if guys want to keep up the locker room talk, then women will rarely venture out of the tech room.

and as i believe bumble said, objectifying someone consensually, because you're in a relationship with them, is unrelated to public crassness.

I believe that trilonaut and gnangle have been doing precisely this thing that you claim no one is doing, right here on this very thread. I dont know if they are boys. Perhaps they are not. Makes no never mind to me. Either way, Rachael is not alone, at least not by my reading of it. She (and they) are outnumbered, but she is not alone.

I have done the same as you suggest on other topics in past, but in part because Ive been away until very recently, I havent yet had an opportunity to join in on this thread. If I were to, I would probably say something along the lines of "Objectifying women, all women including lesbians, is wrong." Probably. Now it seems a little beside the point, but thats what Id probably say.

Oddly enough, I have also been accused of sexism by Rachael in past when we found ourselves on opposite sides of a discussion that had (at best) very little to do with sexism. VERY little.

Eh. These things happen.

Anyway, yeah, for what it's worth I am on your side. Unfortunately, I also think the Dragon is often funny.

Oh what a pickle Im in.

PS -- Anyway yes gentlemen, please stop being reflexively defensive and for fuck's sake stop accusing folks of being "PC." That term is a lingusistic trick foisted on us by neocon marketeers, designed to make people embrace fascism as though it were common sense. Examine arguments on their merits, agree or disagree, but dont fall back on the easy "PC" escape valve when doing so becomes tiresome or inconvenient, or bumps up against your perceived birthright.

PPS -- I wont even address "femi-nazi." Wtf?

PPPS -- Ive nothing more to add. Im still not sure why this thread appeared. That's what I get for letting my subscription lapse.

re: the official Lesbian post (by terikaiser) and the original post by Rachael.

Sorry, but I just don't buy it.

First off, too big a chip on your shoulders. I don't think that there has been any serious objectification of lesbians or women on the EA forums. There has been a large helping of ironic objectification served up with a certain amount of self-deprecation as men. Humour if you will, sometimes juvenile, but sometimes quite funny.

Fighting the good fight here is like preaching to the choir. A rather sarcastic, caustic choir, but the choir nonetheless. I imagine if you cut most users to the bone here, you'll find that they're in agreement with you, but if you start a thread and bash them for something that they don't really believe, expect a bunch of sardonic shitty responses.

In the rather insular world of the EA forums, I suppose this humour can get a little tiring after a while, but really if you want to get seriously offended about attitudes towards women, go to the American Family Association or some Fox Networks forums or something.

Seriously, you couldn't have honestly expected any other reaction to your initial post here other than the one you got.

...and thus ends my serious consideration of the topic at hand.
