I have recently been talking to Al and Todd about possibly doing a documentary about US Maple. I have a considerable amount of footage of them live, on tour, in the recording studio, ect. And we’re trying to figure out how to package it… Better than 90% of what I have, however, is all around the Acre Thrills period and I know there’s gotta be other stuff floating around out there.
If you might have anything, or could ask around to see if you know someone who has stuff, please PM me and we can discuss what the best way for me to get a copy of it.
I’m looking for anything, video, still photos, posters, recorded interviews, etc.
Even any other leads of places to make this request would be very helpful.
I would like to thank you in advance for any help you may provide…
Tony

2Man, I don't have anything to offer, unfortunately, but I hope you find a bunch of stuff, and post here on the progress of the documentary. I love me some USM.

4I don't know if this can help but in 1999 or in 2000, US Maple played at the Pezner in Villeurbanne (near Lyon). The Pezner staff filmed every gig there.
In 2003, the Pezner went bankrupt but the people managing it decided to live in the venue. I slept there once and we watched the tape of the US Maple gig.
I don't know if there are still living there but you should try to get in touch with Christophe, the manager, he may send you a copy of the tape:

5A US Maple doc would be great...
What I'd really love to see is some footage of Snailboy or Shorty...
Please include those years in your doc if you are able.

9I'm sure this is not news for anyone doing a documentary on these fine folks, but for anyone interested, thisbiogoes into more detail than I've ever encountered.

Thanks for the lead! I tried the e-mail but it was kicked back. The phone number worked, but I got a hold of a guy that only spoke French.... and I only speak English.... barely..... and now that I think about it, it was probably 2 am there when I called.... I may try snailmail, but I'm trying to get in touch with a friend who speaks French to make the call for me....
It definitely sounds like something that is worth tracking down....
To your recollection, how did it sound?
Thanks again...
Tony
