power pop anyone?

i feel almost sheepish asking this... but i'm quite curious. there has been alot made here of bands people are into. most of the time these bands are or the progressive/metal/math rock/i don't know what else to call it ilk.

is anyone into power pop? like fountains of wayne, superdrag, early oasis, the weakerthans (although because of john k.'s background they tend to get lumped with punk/prog rock)... just good melodic songwriting? good songs can be found anywhere, i know... but bands of that genre, who kinda specialize in the goofy three minute pop song. note: not nsync or any of that crap. musicians who write their own stuff. just curious! if i am in a minority in digging these kinds of bands, don't flame me too hard. (i said hard)

and, to fit in the vein of some otehr posts, could you list them if you are? i'm always looking for new stuff to listen to. even just great songwriters - like chris cheney from the living end - not really power pop but a fucking great songwriter. same with dave king from flogging molly.

thanks/sorry

power pop anyone?

When I hear the term "power pop," I tend to think of bands like Jellyfish, Owsley, XTC, Glad Hands, Gigolo Aunts, some Matthew Sweet, etc. Usually influenced by the 3-minute catchy pop tune and decorated largely with Beatles and Beach Boys-inspired vocal harmonies.

If that's what you mean, then yeah, I'm into it.
