Am I alone in thinking that Unplugged is their best record?
With In Utero they proved themselves to be a great rock band, but it was with Unplugged that Kurt proved himself to be a great songwriter (yes, I know there's a lot of covers).
The Leadbelly and Bowie covers? God damn.

You're definitely not alone in the thought that this album showed them at their best clever cover picking.
But in terms of their acoustic renditions of their own songs, it is not THAT good. Not bad by any means, but... to me this album was mostly a showcase of their cool covers. Not that many of their own songs hit me that hard (and I was like 15 at the time...), and a couple, most notably "Pennyroyal Tea" made me wand to hurl.
"Scentless Apprentice" unplugged, that would be something to behold...

66Did anyone actually buy Sliver: The Best of the Box?
I don't know who's in charge of marketing this band these days, but they seem to be pushing the fanbase to the limits in $$.
First a Best of, then a box set, now a best of the box set....maybe next we'll get a best of the best of the box set, with 1 unreleased track of Kurt Cobain singing in the shower.
Time to let the man rest in peace.

70his way of playing was just hitting roots a quarter note at a time.
i mean, he did his job but, come on....he was a tall, awkward, goofy, stoned and drunk mess with little to no musical talent...in other words, he was a classic bass player
