Man, I do like me some Melvins. Mostly it's the stuff up to but not including Stoner Witch, though I have put on Stoner Witch once in awhile in the last couple years and am warming up to it. I thought Honky was a great album, and the last 7" was just fucking odd, but cool. But when I think "I love the Melvins" I'm thinking primarily of everything from Gluey Porch Treatments to Houdini. You know (or maybe you don't) when you're a kid and you listen to the first time to something like Big Black and you think "Wow that's crazy! That's really crazy, all that noise!" and then as you get older you find yourself understanding the arrangements, where the 'verses' and 'choruses' figure into it. I still haven't fully grasped how a human being could or would write something like Ozma, much less than teach all those weird changes to two other people. And it's not like Buzz was shooting for the golden hoop by doing that, it's not like he's pretensious or anything..you dig into the pre-Gluey Melvins and they're just as unlistenable, if not more. I admire people with strong artistic vision like that. Good stuff. A not crap from me.

I remember they opened one of their shows in London (honky tour I think) with a cover of Stairway to Heaven*. Midway through the set they played one note for what seemed like fifteen minutes. It was awsome.

*Have they ever played this before/again? Is there bootleg out there I can get a hold off?

Just got it. On my first listen, so I won’t comment just yet. The duel drumming seems pretty cool.

I wish they'd stop using pro tools. Melvins! Pro Tools is not suitable for your rock!

EDIT:Melvins, seriously! Stop using Pro Tools. You are an abrasive hard rock band. It sounds fucking stupid.

It's probably on soulseek too.

Someone start a "Melvins:stop using Pro Tools" petition.

I'm sure people who've downloaded their album early are the first ones they listen to regarding said album.

Well, the argument doesn't apply exclusively to this album. The last 4 or so have been pro tooled.

Don't fret; I'll buy it when it comes out.
