No, but I am an A-mare-ikan. I do, however, have a British friend who is entering the competition and your avatar looked vaguely like someone in his comedy theatre group...

On the course I did recently, a screenwriter strongly advised against entering any sort of BBC-sponsered competition. He was specifying against something called 'The Write Room', I think. His thrust was that it was a cheap way for the BBC to harvest ideas, and that the prize money should your idea become reality was way below the market price for a sitcom episode. His advice was that if your idea is so good the BBC will want to make it, you're better advised to pitch it to production companies who ought also to see the potential but who will actually reimburse you properly, and will pay more attention to you because they haven't just been flooded with ideas by promoting a competition.

I couldn't and can't decide if he is absolutely right or not, but I can see the logic in what he says. I just pass the advice on for you to think about a little as it seems relevant, I'm in no wise trying to argue you out of entering the contest.

I had two Stellas at lunchtime then became a gameshow host on the Enquiry Desk. The international students are turning up. I tried to enthuse a Czech boy's friends (who he'd probably just met) with the idea that he was a superhero - his first name was Zoltan, for fuck's sake - but they decided to go with his silent implication that he was in fact a young boy who just wants to be a chemist.
