How was the Touch and Go 25th?

Here's the one and only picture I took the whole time there. Saturday morning, before the greatness.

That's my friend closest to the camera. The girl who went on stage with Shellac was waiting there with her boyfriend and friend for the whole day so they could be in front for Big Black and Shellac. Good for her, I say - they made it. My friend and I lasted in the front through The Ex, but then went and watched Killdozer. If I/we blocked your view, I am very sorry..we are tall..we can not help it.

I'll post more on the bands, people etc. later when I have more time. Suffice it to say that I can't think of the the last time I heard so much good music or laughed for so long.

So for now:

I have never in my life seen more people at once with red/ginger hair.

Is this a Chicago thing or a T&G thing? Or is it the new fashion? I felt like I was in a photo shoot for some Irish indie rock alterna-beverage that the marketing dept. at Guinness had cooked up.

Killdozer w/the twins = GOD = the entire reason I bought my ticket

fuck everybody else you peasants!

ahhhh, just teasin'.. it's all good you jamokes.

seriously: Scratch Acid was the killer for me personally but
I also really liked Ted Leo, The Monorchid, and the Didgits.
Big Black wasn't as good as Shellac and Steve kinda pegged
it when he commented "this was much cooler in the 80's!"
but fuck if they weren't good sports for doing it for Cory..

fucking Negative Approach BROUGHT it, no doubt Detroit h/c
represented another time in the TnG timeline entirely - one
that many of these kids who dig CocoRosie wouldn't know
if it fuckin' bit 'em.

Girls Vs Boys still highly overrated and !!! I won't comment
on except to say I'm with Steve.
I don't have a girlfriend, but I know a girl who would get really mad at me if she heard me say that!

Saturday was pure greatness. I was actually very pleasantly surprised by a lot of the bands. I expected Scratch Acid and Big Black to be the highlights, but I'd say Killdozer, The Ex, Didjits, and Man or Astroman had the best performances. Coming into the day, I knew these were all great bands, but I thought there was no way they would top a Big Black and Scratch Acid reunion! Shellac would probably be one of the highlights too, if I wasn't so fuckin' far away during their set! (Thankfully, I got to see them from about 4 feet out on Monday)

What was great was when people started making their way over to get a good spot for Big Black while MoAM were playing. I was able to see MoAM up close for their last few songs.

This was like going to a festival you'ld only be able to curate if you had a time machine & definitely had a this-can't-be-happening flavour. Some of the bands seemed to be there purely to earth it back to reality, but it was still the best festival I've ever been to. And that includes some stellar ATPs.

Many thanks T&G!

Anyone go to the Chess party afterwards?
