actually, after having just seen The Big Lebowski this saturday, for the first time since seeing it in the theatre during it's original run, i must say this sounds like something i would probably enjoy getting involved in...

I've been worried about this happening for 10 years. The closing always seemed right around the corner. Now that it's true it's almost a relief. Not that it's a good thing, it's not, but the tension is finally broken.

I never thought it would last 10 months much less 10 years. I think we're lucky to have hosted the most unique, fun and nationally known all ages venues ever, and for 10 fucking years to boot.

Raise a glass to the Fireside, and learn the lesson that we never should take anything or anyone for granted. One day you wake up and they're gone, and it's already be too late to say goodbye.

I drove up with friends from Indianapolis without tickets. I forgot why, but I couldn't get them. I figured it wouldn't be sold out because of the time. I was wrong. After stupidly not buying three single extra tickets (we were looking for two or three) we said we drove from Indianapolis and asked for pity. They went to ask the band or something. ANyway we got in and a good time was had by all.

From the Fireside website www.firesidebowl.com- appears live music is not going away afterall.

Changes at the Fireside Bowl

There has been a change at there Fireside regarding booking. Until recently booking was handled by MPShows and due to recent developments this relationship has ended. The Fireside bowl wishes the best to the folks at MPShows. The Fireside is in the process of re-arranging it's schedule. Bowling starts on the 26th. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Fireside will continue to have live entertainment

More information will be posted in the weeks ahead. Bands interested in booking shows at the Fireside should contact us directly by sending an email to booking@firesidebowl.com

Fireside was crap cuz it smelled bad, the ceiling would fall on you, the sound was almost always terrible on the stage because the monitors wouldn't work right, the location was inconvenient, they would flip flop about where to put your gear every other time you played there (put it there! no! there! no! over there!), the merch area was always sticky, the aforementioned bathrooms, the shows never started on time (except when they did)....

On top of it all, it was a pain in the ass to get a show there!

The only things it had going for it was that a) it was always all ages and b) it had a nice sized bar. When I would hear from other people that had never been to the fireside about how 'legendary' it was, I would always laugh. Most shows at VFW halls are run much smoother than the Fireside ever was in my experience.

But all that stuff aside, I love that place, I've seen so many great bands and the fact that it *is* kinda famous is sort of cool. It's an indie rock cliche to jump up onstage at a bigger venue and say something about the Fireside bowl to gain 'street cred.' The flaws listed above could be called "character."

I'm glad they'll still be having music there.

this isnt the first time i heard this and i never quite understood what the problem was. i never had a problem getting a show there. all you had to do was be persistent and eventually brian would just throw you on a bill...once i played there a few times all i had to do was say "can we get on this show?" and usually the answer was "yes"
