I can't believe how trendy Scarface has become the past few years. Doesn't anyone remember that movie.......sucked?


Godfather.

Not even a contest. Pacino is fucking embarrassing in Scarface, but entertainingly so.

The Godfather, on the other hand, is an unqualified masterpiece.

I agree. I saw Scarface when I was in high school and thought it was a complete joke. Then, when I went to college, it had taken on this mythical status as one of the great all time movies. Everyone had the poster on their wall. It was almost as popular among movies among stupid college students as Dave Matthews was among musicians, if that tells you anything. Regardless, the omnipresence of Scarface was annoying.
The Godfather I and II are two of the best movies of all time.

I did catch a good bit of "Panic in Needle Park" on AMC the other night. been a long time. I need to rent the dvd.

The Godfather is a better film.

Scarface is not one of De Palma's or Pacino's better efforts.

I think that if not for the chainsaw and the final suicidal bloodbath, it would not have nearly the mythic quality.
