At the risk of igniting the hate oft displayed when alluding to the dirtitest of all guitar effects: the humble delay pedal, i'm nevertheless after some advice.
I need to get hold of one of these irresponsible devices, not to sound like a party of poodle hairs, but for one specific purpose and one alone: I want to smooth out all those nasty to nice transitions.
Thus I need a pedal that, upon switching off the effect, allows the repeats to carry on their natural decay; that upon switching off the effect, will no longer feed the dry signal into the delay circuit, but will just let the existing delay finish naturally. All the boxes i have tried in the past cut the effect completedly when stomped off.
So has anyone used a unit with the aforementioned characteristics?

2I remember being told the line 6 delay pedal can do this. I dont own one so I can't verify this though.

4Guyatone delay you should check it out to see if it has the turn off and still delay feature but I think most do in as much as you are not turning off the delay but the input.

If you're doing ultra-clean, softer-type stuff you might want to avoid it though. It imparts some high frequency noise that is somewhat annoying.
Not noticeable when loud, however.
It would be nice to have the option to have the delay trail off or just stop. Anyone make a pedal/device like that?

10The Danelectro Reel Echo, though not the best delay pedal ever, has a "loop" button you can press that lets you play over the signal as it decays.
I got mine for less than $100, so if you need something cheap, its a pretty decent route.
