Last month I found my holy grail: a mint copy of Ornette Coleman's "Coleman Classics Vol. 1." The record is one of the earliest recordings of Coleman and came out on the Improvising Artists label. Apparantly Ornette was not to pleased about this being released and he had the records pulled and destroyed. I found my copy for about 40 bucks and I have seen this go for well over 200 bucks.
Other good finds on this trip:
Fred Frith - Step Across the Border 2LP
Anthony Braxton Quartet (80's) 3LP
Ornette Coleman - To Whom who Keeps a Record
Also, I have a copy of the Big Black "Headache" in the still sealed bodybag. Does anyone have any clue as to what that goes for and where would be best to sell it (other than the obvious EBAY)?

32I was talking recently with someone who was telling me those old pre-Slanted Pavement 7"s go for a whole lot...like a lot. This has made me think it is time to go through my 7"s and start to unload... do not listen to them and feel somewhat silly having them just as fetish items. Will someone either talk me out of it with something wise I have not thought of or give me an idea of what they are looking for.... I seem to have a mess of good ones and I can't make up my mind....

35When I was a freshman in college, I bought a used copy of the MC5's Kick Out The Jams when it was still dead out of print and all but impossible to find in the US for $10. It had the gatefold cover, but alas didn't have John Sinclair's brilliant/stupid liner note rant of the "motherfuckers" version of the title cut. Still a great album, though.
Several years later, I paid $25 for a very minty looking copy of Television's original "Little Johnny Jewel" seven-inch ... a rip-off price, but what an amazing record!

Oh yeah? I got mine for free.
Back before everything started getting reissued on CD, I paid "collector's prices" for a number of records, my threshold back then (mid- to late 80's) being about 25-30 bucks. Some of these records included following:
MC5: High Time
Eddie Hazel: Games, Dames and Guitar Thangs
Hackamore Brick: One Kiss Leads to Another
The MC5 record was the first, I'm pretty sure. I already owned their debut on vinyl, and not long after that I found a copy of Back in the USA for four dollars.

37Dang - hard to remember the first "collectible"... might have been Geordie - 'Save The World' LP when I was a sophomore in high school (1986), and a budding AC/DC freak...
Plus, there were TITS on the cover! I mean come on - that's a no-brainer purchase for a 14 year old!

39The first thing I ever bought (rather, mom did) was Autobahn, by Kraftwerk, on 45, when I was maybe 5 years old. Ben Franklin's, Crown Point Indiana.
That may be collectable.
I have Das Damen's Marshmellow [sic] Conspiracy - the one that Michael Jackson sued them over. Only a few were printed.
I wonder if anyone cares about that one anymore. It was expensive in 1994, right after I bought it.

40Just looked up the Das Damen record on Ebay. Apparently nobody cares that it's out of print.
So, uh, that was a money losing endeavor. Apparently I should have sold before the Das Damen market crash of 1998.
