Not in every circumstance but more often than not putting stickers and band buttons on things seems kind of childish. I've put a button or two on my guitar straps in the past but I always end up removing them after a while because I feel it's somewhat undignified for a man in his mid 30s to play with buttons and stickers. Maybe it's just that I don't have an eye for expressing myself through stickers and buttons... some people (Mike Watt for example) certainly do but i'd argue that they are the exception to the rule.

Stickers on a guitar = CRAP (in the wrong hands)

I had a hell of time getting the "Certified Fender Bass" sticker off a brand new Jazz. There are a few scratches, I eventually got it off with the wife's hair dryer.

I would have to say that manufacturers that place hard-to-get-off stickers without causing damage pretty much suck.

That said, those who put a lot of stickers on their instruments are like those who wear T-shirts on stage of their favorite bands.

I have no opinion on that.

It has more to do to our notions of dignity.Maybe we should try redefining It.

Ding! Someone just let Descartes into the room.

Now I can continue to use my strap with the Colorsound button on it and feel dignified at 38. Well, as diginified as I can feel considering how badly I suck.

In bizarro world it is. Lucille's (and Thurston's guitar's) demand is elastic,
but the supply is vertical (or in the case of Thurston's guitar's inelastic). I
can see how you would think that the buyer determines the price, because
the buyer can manipulate the demand (which is true where supply is elastic),
but in situation where supply is vertical or inelastic the price is largely determined
by the seller, based on scarcity.

Seriously.

Why do you all give a shit?

Thats an easy one to answer, and i will speak for a lot of you. My life is terrible and worthless and I have no self esteem. By pointing out what i think are the faults in others, i am somehow able to raise the bar up a bit on my crummy life. It's even better that i can do it and nobody really knows who i am, so i can spew crap and put downs from the dark cramped shadow of my existance without anybody kicking my ass or pointing out that I am too dumb boring and ugly to have a real life.
