big cars my ass.

last summer, there were a couple big hurricanes, and all the talk was about how global warming is increasing the severity of hurricanes... and this year... jack shit.

global warming is probably a real thing, i don't dispute that. but to pin it on cars is folly. what percent of the increase in global temperature do you attribute to the indian subcontinent plowing into asia and creating the himalaya mountains? cause y'know that's what caused so much of africa to become shitty hot desert. or at least that's what some computer models said.

it snowed for 10 minutes and then stopped for an hour and then snowed for 2 minutes and then stopped etc etc. this is nothing. yeah, it's cold, temps in the 30's. are we setting the record cold temp in chicago today? maybe? record cold because of global warming...

it's fucking weather. it's unpredictable. it gets cold here. according to weather.com, we're supposed to see high temps in the 50's and 60's for the next 10 days straight.

some air got blown down here from america jr to the north, eh? IT'S WEATHER. IT HAPPENS

this winter is gonna bring 3' of snow in one day, isn't it? aren't we overdue? was the last real snow back in 2000 when we got nailed twice within like a week?

Winter! Is great!

I'm over humidity and heat and and people flubbering out of their tiny summer clothes.

I roasted squash last night, made some great soup and slept with the windows open under a heavy pile of blankets. And now I get to walk to work while it's snowing. Brilliant.

Did you put maple syrup and cinnamon on the squash last night? Was it acorn squash? Thanks for the idea. I don't have to work tomorrow so I'm going to go to the store right now and get some acorn squash and eat the fuck out of it.

Winter is good.
Winter is great. It gives me an excuse to stay inside and listen to records and be warm. and get drunk off of coffee and scotch.

I'm a big fan of the snow coming early. All snow before christmas is good.

Having said all that, Fall is even better. Get the fuck back here fall, I'm not through with you yet. Let's get some more leaves on the ground. I need another 3 weeks of smokey air and Bad Moon Rising before I put on Murder Ballads.

Would you mind recommending a good scotch? This sounds like a good idea.
I've seen the bridges burning in the night.

The best I've had is Balvenie, it's real expensive though, I wouldn't recommend wasting it on Coffee.

If you're looking for a decent cheap single malt, McClelland's is ok. It's about 20 a fifth and they make all the different varieties. It's a good way to sample them on a level field and not spend a fortune.

If you're looking for a basic blended, Dewars is usually my standard.

Lovin' the chill in the air. I was born during a blizzard so it's in my nature to love it.

However, I think what may be freaking some people out about the low temps is the sudden drop and so early in the year. I like the cold but if it starts now, we here in Chicago are gonna be FED UP with it come March...like most of us aren't by that point anyway!

Oh, and, I heard on the radio yesterday that we are to expect another mild winter yet again due to El Nino. Gotta say...I'd take the occassional blizzard over the mild winter if it was a sign that our environment isn't going to hell. With that said, bring on the snow!

I've never done a coffee+scotch. Whiskey, sure, of course, although I prefer it in lapsang souchong tea.

My regular scotch is Johnnie Walker, nothing fancy.

Glad it's cold again.
