I always get the italian lemonaide instead of a drink. It's got real pieces of lemon in it (rind included). I can't go more than 3 days without getting one of those things. They're open until 12am every day of the week, which is another thing I love about them.

I wholeheartedly recommend this suggestion as well. The chicken vesuvio sandwiches are fucking incredible.

Seriously. Everyone is Bridgeport knows Freddie's is the place to go over Ricobene's. Don't get me wrong, Ricobene's is quite good but Freddie's got 'em beat on just about everything. And, Freddie's is often open til 2am. Service is fast, too. :)

I don't know if the food is the best but Rajun Cajun is certainly wierd enough for a mention. Soul food/Indian food mix. It's cheap enough not to really matter, though. 1459 E. 53rd St

Salonica is great for omlettes and breakfasts. I haven't been there for anything else but I think it's greek/diner (but a little fresher than diner may imply). Inexpensive and likely the most consistantly diverse atmosphere I've ever eaten in. 1440 East 57th Street

I've heard great things about Army & Lou's as well. I'd also throw in a mention for the JJ's fish places you'll see in various spots. The fish is really good. It's deep fried with the bones in but if you can get past that, it's the grub. I hear there are some nice places in Bronzeville as well.

I'm not familiar with Freddie's, so I can't deabte this with you, but I am intrigued. I used to work twelve-hour shifts downtown and we'd always order from Ricobene's. Just thinking about their chicken vesuvio sandwiches are enough to get me drooling. In fact, every time I've ordered a chicken vesuvio sandwich other than the Ricobene's one, I end up sorely disappointed. I didn't even know what chicken vesuvio was until Ricobene's. But like I posted earlier, this Freddie's place has gotten me intrigued.

I don't know either. The internet could not tell me. My guess is that they are in the poorly named "loose meat" style.

My guess is that it means thin, patty-style burgers as opposed to the fat steak burger type.

I'm guessing its a synonym for the 30's style burger. For a complete discussion check here
