Rennes 1 - 0 Nice

A player of Nice was wrongfully sent off after 7 minutes of game. Rennes scored the only goal during the second half with an imaginary penalty kick.

Unusual enough to be mentionned, Maurice Cohen, the President of Nice said he is tired to hear about the referees' wages and status. It's time to talk about their incompetence.

Nice has been severely penalised by bad decisions from the referees for the beginning of the season (the same happenned last year).

Next Sunday, Nice will play Marseille. A team I hate, our biggest rivals, always "protected" by the refs BTW.

leeds have finally found some consistency - we've lost by four goals two games in a row.
caretaker manager john carver says he expects to be sacked after today's 5 - 1 loss at luton town. but who will replace you john? the boot boy? gary kelly? let's hope it's the boot boy then.

the bottom five of the championship is four teams from yorkshire. i don't know what that says. at least we don't have to travel far in our relegation battle i suppose.

Barring bizarre disasters, Dennis Wise will become the new manager of Leeds United tomorrow. Oh wait, that is the bizarre disaster!

I'm deeply unhappy about this. What disturbs me most is that this could be a really good appointment. Swindon have been doing well with him at the helm. But I can't get rid of this feeling that Ken Bates as chairman and Dennis Wise as manager is just all wrong. They epitomised Chelsea in the nineties, and now here they are, presumably with the intention of epitomising Leeds in the future. I don't know how to take that. I cannot process this information! Someone, tell me how to feel!

I just hope that Wise isn't coming as player/manager. It's bad enough that he should be in the dugout. But on the pitch? In the shirt?

statistically, he seems to have been a good manager to date. or he's been very lucky. it could be either i suppose.

i don't like wise either but then again i hated bates too. now it looks like we'll be out of debt next year because of him. i'd be a liar if i said my opinion of him hadn't changed a little bit.

I'm getting ready to go to the Stade du Ray to watch Nice - Marseille (our biggest rivals).

When your team keeps losing games and you need a little cheer-up, watch videos of great games your team played in the past.

Here is the sum up of one particular game. I was there and I guess most great teams have had a game like this one in their histories.

Monaco was first and Nice was in the bottom half of the league. After 66 minutes of game which was in Monaco, Monaco was leading 3 - 0. Fans of Nice are located on the right handside of the screen. I let you watch the video...

NB: it's a big file (32 mo for 5 minutes)

Sly Bug, Nice's stadium looks crazy. Congratulations on the win - sounds like this was no family fun day. Here's a question; a friend of mine is from Nice, and used to tell me some things about problems there with far-right supporters. Does this translate into the football ground? Football tends to be a magnet for such knuckleheads. Apologies in advance if you're a nazi yourself, of course. Heh.

Leeds won a game! Ian Moore scored in the league! Dennis Wise is saying all the right things! He's still a cockney bastard and can suck my balls! But at least they didn't get beaten!

It really used to be a problem in the late eighties. The south stand, the stand I go to, is the home of the Brigade Sud, a group of ultra fans like you can find in Italy. The group was founded in 1985 but at the end of the eighties, it was inflitrated by far-right assholes and at the time, I think you could tell Nice had far-right supporters.
To make a very long story short, the "cleaning" has been done. Today, the Brigade Sud is a pluriethnical group. Basically, it's just an ultra group. There are still a few far-right guys in the south stand, but if they are more than 50 out of the 2000 people in the stand, that would be the maximum. I know who they are because I've been there for a long time. They don't show anything, otherwise they would be kicked out of the stand immediately.
I have been in this stand since 1993 now and I have never witnessed racist insults or flags there. Black players have often been the stand's favorites like Samy Traore (now in Paris), Noé Pamarot, Kaba Diawara, Baky Koné. The French press still seems to be quick to present us as far-right supporters but this era has ended for almost 20 years now. You can root for Nice with confidence 8)

And no, I'm not a nazi or a racist  I woudn't go to this stand if it was crowded of far-right people.

Games against Marseille, Paris, Saint Etienne (hi 202), Bordeaux are never family fun days. I don't even talk about rivals in the lower leagues.

Leeds fans have the same reputation, haven't they?

Yeah. That was on my mind when I asked. It was all before my time, but the late eighties sounded fairly grim around Elland Road. I'm not convinced that Leeds were much worse than many other clubs, but it certainly seemed that they got the full tarnish. Like Nice, by the sounds of things, the racists were proactively kicked out and it's a much healthier place to be these days.

That said, since we've been relegated to the Championship and attendances have fallen, the idiot to cool-dude ratio has taken a turn for the worse. I haven't been for eighteen months - I plain can not afford the price of a ticket - but I noticed during our first season in the second division that I was finding myself near more racist idiots than I cared to. It sounds like a similar situation to Nice, though - these twats can't get too loud because other fans will call them out on it. Even if they're being challenged on it, though, the prospect of hanging out in a stand with muttering racists wasn't encouraging me to find the dough to renew my season ticket.

On an unrelated note, I just saw on the television a headline for a report on Wayne Rooney's hattrick from yesterday. The headline was 'TORRENTIAL WAYNE-STORM'. Fucking superb, Mr Headline Writer!
