Hi there my wanking friend.

GvsB is a band that has passed by my radar with only minimal impact, but what I've heard I've liked. How about a primer?

Hey wanker-

GVSB was a big part of my introduction to indie rock. I started with the first two Touch and Go releases, 'Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby' and 'Cruise Yourself'. If you had to pick one, I'd go with 'Venus Lux'. Probably follow that with 'House of GVSB', it basically just builds on what they did with the first two. I also love their newest, on Jade Tree, 'You Can't Fight What You Can't See', it was a nice return to form after 'Freakonica' which I would avoid at all costs (READ: Good band with interesting style/sound signs to major who thinks they can mass-market said sound. Band makes somewhat accessible/polished version of what they've been doing for almost ten years. Label bunks on promise to mass-market. Band ends up with no label, and a piece of shit in the cutout bins). Actually, "piece-of shit" is kind of harsh as it has moments, but I would avoid it until the end. Their pre-Touch and Go stuff is also good, but it's also better left until the end. I think if you were left to decide whether or not you liked the band based on "90s vs. 80s" or "Tropic of Scorpio" you wouldn't go any further and you'd be missing out.

That said, and given time to think about it, here's the order I would go for:

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby
House of GVSB
Cruise Yourself
You Can't Fight What You Can't See
Tropic of Scorpio
90s vs. 80s
Freakonica

Don't forget the "Bulletproof Cupid" (for the b-side "Sharkmeat") and "Sexy Sam" singles.

They make the sexiest music I've ever heard. I'm a fucking dork, so listening to Girls Against Boys, I can pretend I'm cool.

Anyone else have anything to add?

Wank on.
